Did you know that May is National Scrapbook Month? The crafting world had gone scrappy and layouts and mini albums are all the rage right now! I am going to come forth and admit this up front…I do not scrapbook….that much….any more.
(GASP!)
I know, I know. I use to scrapbook in high school and have gotten away from the craft in the last few years. This only means ONE thing… this is the PERFECT opportunity to get scrapbooking once again. So here is one of my first attempts back in the ring. No judging please!

I am a total sucker for craft trends. How can you resist? When Pinterest and the crafting stores are jam packed with trendy colors and patterns you just get sucked in. My favorite trend this spring is the vibrant neon color trend along with the teal and coral explosion!

For this layout I used the Bo Bunny Alora Collection which is the perfect combination of both of these trends!

For my layout design I used one of my all time favorite scrapbooking tool, the Scrapn’ Easel! I am taking the liberty to deem this product a craft room must-have!  It’s a portable work surface that allows unmatched flexibility when creating projects.
…and BONUS! The Scrap’n Easel is proudly made in the USA!
I started my layout with a simple White American Crafts 12×12 Cardstock sheet. I added a teal wood grain (trend alert) rectangle to the bottom of my layout and topped that with a neon yellow border and off-centered square using a bright neon yellow sheet of paper from the Silhouette Spring Adhesive Backed Cardstock Paper Pack.
To create a sunburst effect around the corner of my rectangle, I simple cut various sized strips from a few of the papers in the collection and adhered them in a random pattern.
Rather than use chipboard elements or embellishments, I cut some shapes out of one of the patterned papers instead. This is a simple way to add character to a layout and save some money on embellishments.
After all the strips were in place I added my circle embellishments along with a few Prima Flowers with brad centers. I also added just a few Candi Dot Embellishments as well.
To add contrast to the layout I added the word “Grow” in a Black American Crafts Thickers. The word “Grow” came from all of the flowers on the layout and the fact that it is Springtime! Oh yea, and I have an ever-so-quickly growing daughter!
To finish off the layout, I added some stamped stitching using my We R Memory Keepers Sew Stamper Tool.
There you have it! My very first scrapbook layout attempt in years
How did I do?
