Christmas Tree Crafting

Here is Project that won’t take a lot of time and will definitely “Spruce” up you house for the season!  This project was done with a Cricut Cuttlebug Machine, but could just as easily be made with a Silhouette Cameo or Curio.

Where would you put these paper trees in your house?  I can definitely see them on my fireplace mantel.  Perhaps, a little garland and pine cones placed around the trees, and of course some twinkling lights would round out this Christmas-y display.  Another reason that I like these trees is because of their versatility after the holidays are over. This tree decor could be left up throughout the winter season.  It’s very trendy to decorate with neutrals or white, and that would look  great for the cold months of January and February.  (I live in Wisconsin, so these months are always the coldest of the year.)
The Cricut Cartridge (Winter Wonderland) cut file does all the work for you – cutting two perfect tree shapes with slits in opposite directions to slide together and create the 3D tree!  There are many different designs in this cartridge including snowmen, winter cottages, ice-skates, winter messages and more.  There are lots of ways that this cartridge could really dress up your home for the holidays.

If you are a Silhouette user, here is a link to their design store where you could download a very similar design.  There are so many options for this project!I really like the classic looking tree on the bottom row second one in.  This is the one i would choose for this project because it is simple, yet classic.

Here are a few (among many) of their designs available for downloading from Silhouette Studio.  We sell download cards with many of our products or on their own.   This is a great gift idea for  yourself or someone you know  who may already own a Silhouette machine, and if they don’t there are many bundles that we have that include this download card in them.

A couple of options for your paper is to use textured paper or if you want to use the Curio Machine, you could emboss your own design.

Here are a couple other ideas for using a different paper design. Can’t you just see the color palettes that you could come up with using these? I especially love the Gold Foiled paper, and another thing is that these are both double sided!  Make one tree, and flip it around for an totally different display!

Don’t forget to add some embellishments to your tree to give it that necessary holiday sparkle.  You can also add some spray on glitter for extra bling.  Whether you are a Cricut user or a Silhouette fan, there are plenty of options for you to create one of a kind holiday decor.

If you  use the Silhouette machine….what could you do to add some extra details to your tree project?  I would love to see what you might come up with.  I am constantly looking for new ideas and inspiration too!

Hope this post inspired you to create some unique decor for your home.  Post some of your ideas and projects.  Are you a Cricut or Silhouette user?
